Earlier in the year, established rug weaver and dyer Jacqueline James of Handwoven Rugs was commissioned by the Cooper Gallery in Barnsley to create a multi-sensory weaving to add to their collection. This piece incorporates many different fibres, textures and even a scented thread. I was delighted that Jacqueline then asked me to embellish the weaving prior to it joining the 'Allegory of the Senses' exhibition at the Gallery. I embellished with handmade tassels, pompoms, beads, buttons etc to add to the tactile, 3D nature of the piece. The exhibition runs until 21st November 2020 and includes many pieces that stimulate the senses of sight, sound, touch, taste and smell.
