What the world needs now is lots of face masks; and then to remember to wear them! So, for a bit of fun, put your thinking cap on and let’s hear your rollicking rhymes.
Send in your best ditty by midnight on Friday 31st July and be entered into a competition to win a pair of handmade face masks.
Over the years I have amassed many offcuts of vintage and modern fabrics, with all manner of classic patterns, children’s illustrations and retro designs. So I’m turning some of them into fun, practical masks as there’s no reason why your face-coverings should be ugly and impersonal – or adding to landfill.
The photos show some of the fabric choices available including vintage '3 Little Pigs' and new ‘Very Hungry Caterpillar’ fabric!
Each mask is an individual, handcrafted item: for the winner I will make two adult/child’s fitted designs with ties and with/without wire-reinforcement around the bridge area to help prevent glasses from steaming up. They have separate outer and inner fabrics, are washable and re-usable. I will only use new fabric for the inside that sits against your face; and the two fabrics open like a pouch so that you can insert tissue or kitchen roll for an added layer of protection. If you prefer, I can make the simpler, elasticated design for ease of use (no pouch or wire included, with 3 fixed layers of fabric over the mouth and nose).
The masks on show here are just a sample of what I can produce with the textiles that inspire me. Commissions are welcome: get in touch if you have a particular requirement. Email: email@example.com
